About the Event

It's time for the 2023 National Beauty Pitch! Brought to you by Black Girl Ventures Foundation, in partnership with JCPenney and Rare Beauty Brands (owner of Patchology and Dr. Dana Nails).

RSVP to join us on YouTube live for a virtual competition on October 12th.

The National Beauty Pitch Competition is a pitch competition for Black and Brown women-identifying founders in the Beauty industry. The pitch competition, done in classic BGV-style resembles a mixture of ‘Shark Tank’ mixed with the elements of a classic ‘Rent Party. At a BGV pitch competition, the audience decides the winner through Raisify.co, our voting platform, with their dollars. The winner is determined by a point system, not the dollar amount raised.

The participating founders for the 2023 National Beauty Pitch are:

  • Canita Worth, founder of Nita’s Nail Galore
  • Halima Hubbard, founder of Bath Notes
  • Kaylah A. Joseph, founder of LAID Hair Care
  • Keta Burke-Williams, founder of Ourside
  • Orion Brown, founder of Black Travel Box
  • Rachel Zeigler, founder of Naked Chemistry Skincare
  • Whitney McElwain, founder of Daybird

The first prize winner of the competition will win a $10k grant, shelf space at JCPenney, a brand consultation with Rare Beauty Brands, and other non-monetary prizes to help elevate their business. Other participants will also receive funding and non-monetary prizes by where they place and crowd-funding.

BGV’s mission is to create access to capital, capacity, and community. This means we want to see ALL Black and Brown women-identifying founders win. We want to help the founders in the communities we serve scale and grow their businesses, gain the capacity to hire in their communities, and have the social capital to meet those who will help them grow in partnerships and accessibility in their industry.
